How to Get Rid of Face Acne

Acne likes to take hold all over the body, but most commonly on the face. That’s where it’s most noticeable, and your face also tends to go through a lot in a day – some people use makeup, frequently touch and prod their faces, and your face is also frequently exposed to the elements.

There are several ways to help get rid of face acne.

Wash Regularly!

Get your hands on a mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge and wash your face twice per day. Don’t wash too much or you’ll irritate your skin – twice per day is just enough to wash away the oil and help get rid of old skin cells. Pat dry, don’t rub, since rubbing can irritate the skin further. You don’t want more irritation!

Another trick: After washing your face, massage castor oil into your skin. Don’t rinse, let it sit overnight. In the morning, rinse with cold water, pat dry, go about your day.

Don’t touch!

Your hands are a fairly bacteria-laden area of your body and prodding at your face with them can help spread that bacteria – and existing acne bacteria – around your face, which then leads to more acne. Hands off! You’ll thank yourself later.

You also want to avoid squeezing pimples. Not only does this irritate the skin, it can push nastiness deeper into it and spread bacteria all over your face. Not pretty. Whiteheads will go away on their own, after all.

Benzoyl Peroxide is your friend.

When looking for an acne treatment, try to find one that has Benzoyl Peroxide in it. The stuff is amazing – it breaks up dead skin, sends bacteria packing and removes pore-clogging oils. You’ll grow to love it just as I do.

Spot treatments.

Some creams can be applied just to the acne in order to help shrink it and make it go away. You can also apply ice to cysts to help reduce the swelling (remember, acne cysts are an infection, so the rules of dealing with an infection apply). Crushed garlic can be applied to acne for its antibacterial properties, too, if you don’t mind the smell. At least you won’t have to worry about vampires!

Vitamins!

Vitamins A, E and C are really important for your skin’s health. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, take a multivitamin, add seeds and nuts and whole grains to your diet. Overall, improving your diet can have great long-term effects for your skin and your entire body. After all, your skin is a reflection of the inside.

Be sure to wash down your improved diet with lots and lots of water.

Steam Power!

Boil water, pour it into a bowl, then put a towel over your head (making a tent) and hold your head over the resulting steam. Let that open your pores, then apply a concoction like mashed carrots, cucumbers and milk or any other similar thing you can find online. I’ve heard of a scrub with honey and crushed almonds that’s really quite wonderful.
